Mon Apr 07 15:20:00 UTC 2025: ## RCB’s Explosive Start Against MI: 73/1 After Powerplay

**Mumbai:** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) launched a blistering attack against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the powerplay, reaching a commanding 73/1 after six overs. Virat Kohli (36*) and Devdutt Padikkal (32*) were the architects of this explosive start, showcasing aggressive batting against the MI bowlers.

Trent Boult’s first over was eventful. While he dismissed Faf du Plessis early, Padikkal responded with a boundary off the first ball he faced. Boult’s over yielded only 8 runs.

Surprisingly, captain Hardik Pandya opted for Deepak Chahar instead of Jasprit Bumrah for the second over, mirroring a strategy from previous matches. While the over lacked big hits, except for a Kohli boundary, the third over saw Padikkal unleashing the first six of the match. Kohli then added two more boundaries to end the over.

Bumrah’s entry in the fourth over was met with a six by Kohli. The over cost 10 runs. Will Jacks also conceded 10 runs in the following over, pushing RCB past 50. Padikkal then thrilled RCB fans with two consecutive sixes off Chahar in the final over of the powerplay, along with a boundary, contributing 20 runs to the total. RCB’s aggressive batting set the stage for an exciting match.
