**Ayodhya, India** – Iqbal Ansari, a prominent Muslim leader in Ayodhya and a plaintiff in the Babri Masjid case, showered Ram Navami pilgrims with flowers on Sunday, showcasing a powerful symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity. Following in the footsteps of his late father, Hashim Ansari, Mr. Ansari continued a family tradition of fostering communal harmony in the holy city.
Ansari, along with other Ayodhya residents, greeted devotees visiting the Ram Janmabhoomi complex with flower petals and chants of “Jai Shri Ram.” He expressed his joy at welcoming the pilgrims, emphasizing that Ayodhya is a city blessed by the birth of Lord Ram and that it is a privilege to be a resident. He reiterated his commitment to welcoming all visitors who come to pay their respects at the various temples and shrines in the city.
The act of showering flowers was performed near the entrance to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, where thousands of devotees were gathered. Ansari highlighted the longstanding Hindu-Muslim brotherhood in Ayodhya and expressed sorrow at the passing of Acharya Satyendra Das, the chief priest of the Ram Janmabhoomi, with whom he had previously participated in this tradition.
