**Thiruvananthapuram, April 6, 2025** – Janani Nishchitha Jnana Thapaswini has been elected to the board of directors of the Santhigiri Ashram, marking a significant increase in female representation on the governing body. The Ashram announced the appointment on Saturday, noting that the 10-member board now comprises six women.
Ms. Thapaswini, a renunciate disciple of the Ashram’s founder, Karunakara Guru, succeeds the late Swami Mahithan Jnana Tapaswi. Born Ranjini to G. Surendran Pillai and V. Ramani Kutty in Pallikkal, Kottarakkara, she received her initiation into renunciation (Sannyasa Deeksha) on July 16, 1999. She completed her primary education in Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram. The decision to appoint her was made at a board meeting held on April 1st.
