Sun Apr 06 14:51:52 UTC 2025: ## Kerala Leader Faces Backlash for Anti-Muslim Remarks
**MALAPPURAM, Kerala, April 6, 2025** – Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan is facing widespread condemnation for inflammatory remarks targeting the Muslim community and Malappuram district. Natesan claimed that Ezhava communities in Malappuram live in fear and are denied basic rights.
This has sparked outrage, with multiple complaints filed against Natesan. The All India Youth Federation (AIYF) filed a police complaint accusing him of inciting communal division. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) also lodged complaints. The Indian National League (INL) demanded action be taken.
Congress MLA A.P. Anil Kumar criticized Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for remaining silent on the issue and called for legal action against Natesan. Several organizations are demanding that the Chief Minister and several cabinet members withdraw from an upcoming event celebrating Natesan’s three decades of leadership.
While IUML national general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty dismissed Natesan’s statements as irrelevant and widely rejected, former BJP State president K. Surendran offered support, claiming Natesan accurately described Malappuram’s political climate. Other leaders echoed the widespread condemnation, describing Natesan’s comments as “vicious” and “opportunistic.” The controversy continues to dominate Kerala’s political landscape.
