**Madurai, April 6, 2025** – A Madurai court delivered a strong sentence against drug trafficking on Saturday, handing down 12-year rigorous imprisonment and a ₹1 lakh fine to two men for possessing hashish and hashish oil. R. Bistis and M. Vasanthan alias Prasanth were convicted by First Additional Special Court Judge A. S. Hariharakumar for their involvement in a 2021 drug bust in Thoothukudi. The case stems from a Narcotics Control Bureau operation that seized 9.14 kg of hashish and hashish oil, dismantling a local drug trafficking ring. A third accused, N. Johnson, passed away during the trial.
