**Guwahati, April 6, 2025** – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma declared that weakening the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would hinder India’s progress towards global leadership. Speaking at the BJP’s 46th foundation day celebrations, Sarma attributed the party’s success to its rejection of dynastic politics, contrasting it with the Congress party.
Sarma emphasized that attacking the BJP was not merely targeting individuals but an ideology and national pride. He acknowledged potential challenges to the BJP’s continued growth but proposed leveraging technology, particularly social media, to counter these threats and disseminate positive messages.
He highlighted the BJP’s commitment to remaining a party of workers, rejecting the family-oriented political model exemplified by the Nehru-Gandhi family. Sarma credited the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for the BJP’s dedication to national service and cited the BJP’s governance in 21 states as a testament to its success, claiming it benefits 70% of India’s population. He further boasted that the BJP is now the world’s largest party, surpassing the Communist Party of China in membership.
Sarma linked several key policy achievements—the construction of the Ram Temple, the revocation of Article 370 in Kashmir, and the criminalization of triple talaq—directly to the BJP’s rule, asserting that these milestones would not have been achieved without the party’s influence. He also claimed that the Northeastern states’ development is directly attributable to the BJP’s attention.
