Sun Apr 06 04:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Oscar Winner Rami Malek Stars in Action Thriller “The Amateur”

**New York, NY** – Oscar and Emmy winner Rami Malek premiered his new action thriller, “The Amateur,” in New York City on Wednesday. The film, hitting theaters April 11th, marks a departure for Malek, who plays Charlie Heller, a brilliant but introverted CIA decoder driven to avenge his wife’s murder.

The film, based on Robert Littell’s 1981 novel, sees Malek returning to a familiar role as an unassuming computer expert, similar to his acclaimed performance in “Mr. Robot.” However, this time, he’s thrust into a globe-trotting action adventure. Co-stars include Laurence Fishburne and Jon Bernthal, with Rachel Brosnahan portraying Malek’s slain wife, the catalyst for his vengeful mission.

“I got to star in an action movie,” Malek shared at the premiere. “That’s something I never thought I would really ever say.” He expressed excitement about sharing the film, which he described as relatable, with audiences who might feel overlooked or underestimated. The trailer highlights the initial underestimation of Malek’s character, before his intelligence proves him a formidable field agent.

“The Amateur” also features Michael Stuhlbarg, Holt McCallany, Julianne Nicholson, Adrian Martinez, and Danny Sapani. The film promises a thrilling ride for fans of action and suspense.
