Sun Apr 06 07:20:00 UTC 2025: **Momoa’s “Dune” Character to Return in Third Film**
**NEW YORK** – Jason Momoa has confirmed his return to the Dune franchise for the third installment, despite his character Duncan Idaho’s death in the first film. The actor revealed the news on the TODAY show, playfully blaming fans unfamiliar with the source material for his spoiler.
Momoa’s return is no surprise to readers of Frank Herbert’s novels, where Duncan Idaho plays a significant, recurring role. While he perished in Denis Villeneuve’s 2021 adaptation of *Dune*, the upcoming *Dune: Part Three*, slated for a 2026 release, will adapt *Dune Messiah*, allowing for Idaho’s comeback. The film will also feature expanded roles for Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh) and Alia (Anya Taylor-Joy), and will continue the storyline of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya). Villeneuve previously stated his intention to adapt the story across three films to properly capture the scope of Herbert’s work.
