Sun Apr 06 12:57:00 UTC 2025: ## SNDP Yogam Leader Denies Anti-Muslim Sentiments Amidst Malappuram Controversy
**Alappuzha, April 6, 2025** – Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan clarified on Sunday that his controversial remarks about Malappuram district were misconstrued, denying accusations of anti-Muslim sentiment. Natesan, who previously described Malappuram as a “state of one particular community,” stated that his speech aimed to highlight the lack of social justice for the Ezhava community in the district.
He cited the disparity in aided educational institutions, pointing out the absence of aided Ezhava institutions compared to the numerous aided colleges run by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leaders. Natesan emphasized that the SNDP Yogam had historically opposed religious hatred, referencing their response to the Babri Masjid demolition. While refusing to retract his statements, he accused the IUML and sections of the media of portraying him as a religious extremist, suggesting the controversy was a distraction from recent Enforcement Directorate raids. He questioned the IUML’s lack of Hindu candidates and lamented the lack of support for the Ezhava community despite past collaborations.
