**Hyderabad, Telangana –** BC Welfare and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has accused the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) of secretly supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Hyderabad local body MLC elections. Prabhakar questioned the BJP’s participation in the election, citing their low number of votes (27 out of 112) and suggesting a covert agreement with the BRS, which holds 23 votes.
The Minister highlighted the Congress’s withdrawal from the race due to insufficient support, implying the BJP’s candidacy is only feasible with BRS backing. He dismissed the possibility of Congress support for the BJP and noted that the MIM’s 49 votes are unlikely to shift.
Prabhakar further fueled speculation by referencing rumors of close ties between BJP state president G. Kishan Reddy and BRS chief K. Chandrashekhar Rao, along with comments from BJP MLA Raja Singh suggesting a lack of seriousness within the state BJP unit. He also alleged a similar, non-binding agreement between the two parties in recent undergraduate elections. The Minister characterized the situation as a “rumor” of a BJP-BRS tie-up being discussed widely in political circles. Prabhakar’s accusations paint a picture of backroom deals and internal support within the upcoming MLC elections.
