Sun Apr 06 14:22:55 UTC 2025: ## Congress Eyes Generational Shift, Accountability as Ahmedabad Session Looms

**Ahmedabad, Gujarat –** Ahead of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) session in Ahmedabad on April 9th, Congress general secretary Sachin Pilot has emphasized a generational shift within the party, highlighting the increasing roles of young leaders. In an interview with PTI, Pilot stated that the upcoming session, themed “Nyaypath: Sankalp, Samarpan and Sangharsh,” holds significance for strengthening the party’s presence in Gujarat and reclaiming its past glory in the state.

Pilot acknowledged that while the Congress has faced setbacks in recent state elections, its commitment and vigor remain strong. He described the generational shift as gradual, emphasizing the party’s dedication to inclusivity, with increased representation for backward communities, youth, women, and minorities. He cited the Udaipur Declaration as guiding principles for party appointments and stressed that many young leaders are successfully assuming leadership roles across various platforms.

Accountability, Pilot stressed, will be a key focus, with measures such as the removal of party office bearers who consistently fail to attend meetings. He also highlighted plans to significantly enhance the roles of District Congress Committee chiefs in elections and party management.

Addressing the issue of party members switching sides, Pilot emphasized that the Congress remains a robust organization committed to serving the people, despite challenges posed by the BJP’s alleged use of central agencies to undermine the opposition. He reiterated the party’s intention to continue fighting back legally and politically.

Pilot also praised Rahul Gandhi’s leadership and the party’s role as a constructive opposition, contrasting its approach with the BJP’s focus on emotive issues. He expressed confidence in the AICC session’s potential to revitalize the party’s presence in Gujarat, a state once considered a Congress stronghold. The session is expected to draw over 1,700 AICC members.
