BHOPAL, INDIA – April 5, 2025 – The Madhya Pradesh Police have launched an investigation into the deaths of a man and his two children after their decomposed bodies were discovered in their home in Gadra village, Mauganj district. While police initially classified the deaths as a possible suicide, relatives and villagers accuse officers of brutality and murder, leading to protests and the suspension of a sub-divisional police officer.

The bodies of Auseri Saket (55), his daughter Meenakshi (11), and son Aman (8), were found on Friday. Protests erupted when the bodies were returned after post-mortem, prompting the District Collector and Superintendent of Police to intervene. Villagers demanded a CBI investigation, but the administration will recommend a judicial probe instead.

Sub-divisional police officer Ankita Sulya, involved in investigating a separate March 15th incident where a police officer was killed during a tribal attack, has been temporarily removed from her post. Police say complaints regarding her conduct preceded the current allegations.

Rewa DIG Rajesh Chandel stated that while no evidence currently supports murder claims, the investigation will include forensic analysis and a search for witnesses. The DIG noted that no direct link has yet been established between the three deaths and the March 15th violence, although the probe will examine this possibility.

Saket’s daughter, Manju Saket, alleges police assaulted her father and siblings on March 17th, the last day she spoke to them. She claims her father warned her not to come to the village due to police harassment.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say they will consider all allegations alongside post-mortem and forensic reports.
