**Thrissur, Kerala –** Renowned writer and activist Sarah Joseph celebrated the 60th anniversary of her literary journey on Sunday, emphasizing the enduring power of public protests in shaping societal consciousness. The valedictory session of “Sarah Joseph’s World,” a two-day event held at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi hall, featured tributes, discussions, and cultural performances honouring her work and unwavering commitment to social justice.

Ms. Joseph, speaking to a large audience, stressed that while protests may not always yield immediate results, they significantly influence public opinion and foster crucial social change. She cited examples such as the Silent Valley agitation and women’s rights movements, highlighting their lasting impact on environmental awareness and gender equality. She also praised the activism of K. Ajitha in Kozhikode for her work advocating for sex workers’ rights.

Ms. Joseph passionately defended feminism as a pursuit of equality for all marginalized groups, transcending gender to fight against discrimination based on religion, caste, colour, and class. Leader of the Opposition V.D.
