**Vijayawada, April 6, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh is set to significantly expand its implementation of the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP), aiming to equip all 55,607 Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) in the state with induction stoves and compatible utensils. A high-level state government team will meet with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) representatives on April 7th to finalize an action plan.
The initiative, aligned with the Indian government’s ‘Go Electric’ campaign, has already garnered national praise. The state’s progress in implementing the NECP in 11,400 AWCs during its first phase earned commendation from the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency.
The expansion is projected to yield significant savings. The Women and Child Welfare Department estimates annual cost savings of ₹24 crore (approximately $2.9 million USD) and a reduction of approximately 28,327 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. This marks a major step towards Andhra Pradesh’s sustainability goals.
