**Manama, [Date]** – The Bahraini government announced to Parliament that its employment initiatives significantly boosted both salaries and job creation in the private sector last year. Through the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), 13,570 Bahrainis received average pay raises of BD80, while 15,580 secured new jobs via national employment programs.

The wage top-up program directly contributed to the overall increase in private sector salaries, which rose from BD757 in 2021 to BD853 in 2024 – a 12.7% increase. Additionally, the updated National Employment Programme raised average starting salaries for new hires by BD60. Job placement was facilitated through various avenues, including direct employment programs, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and private job centers.

Further career development assistance was provided to approximately 25,840 private sector workers through initiatives offering leadership placements, professional certifications, and overseas experience opportunities.

Looking ahead, the government aims to assist 50,000 Bahrainis annually in 2025 and 2026, targeting 13,000 new jobs and enhancing the prospects of another 37,000 through pay increases and skills development. Support will also extend to around 9,000 private businesses via funding schemes and development tools.

The government emphasized its commitment to strengthening Bahraini participation in the private sector, aligning graduates with market demands, maintaining workplace stability, and expanding access to skilled trades. Continued support for the employment of Bahraini women and individuals with disabilities, alongside incentives for companies hiring local staff, were also highlighted.
