SRIKAKULAM, APRIL 5, 2025 – Celebrations for Sri Rama Navami commenced across Srikakulam district on Friday, April 4th, 2025. Various events marked the beginning of the festivities.

In Ponnampet of Ramachandrapuram Panchayat, the celebrations started with the procession of Lord Rama’s idols through the village streets. Further events planned include Rama Nama Smarana (chanting of Lord Rama’s name) on Saturday, an Annadanam (community feast) on Sunday, and the Pattabhishekam (coronation ceremony) on Monday. Former Sarpanch Challa Simhachalam and other villagers participated in the events.

Simultaneously, celebrations began at the Kodanda Rama temple on Palakonda Road. The festivities included a Pandhirata (offering of turmeric paste) ceremony led by priest Bankupalli Seshacharyulu. Women devotees actively participated. The temple is scheduled to celebrate Rama and Sita’s wedding ceremony on Saturday.

Additionally, celebrations were held at the Yoga Centre in PN Colony, where Sita Rama’s wedding was reenacted, accompanied by traditional Kolatam (stick dance) and other performances by women.

Finally, a committee in Srikurmam announced that celebrations will take place on Sunday in the temple street.

The festivities across the district showcase the deep devotion and vibrant cultural expressions of the people of Srikakulam during this significant religious occasion.
