Sat Apr 05 15:49:37 UTC 2025: ## Villupuram MP Urges Gadkari to Expedite Four-Laning of Mamallapuram-Puducherry Highway
**Puducherry, April 5, 2025** – Villupuram MP D. Ravikumar has written to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, requesting expedited approval for the four-laning of the Mamallapuram-Puducherry National Highway (NH-332A). The 108-km highway expansion project is expected to significantly boost connectivity between Chengalpattu, Villupuram, and Puducherry, improving regional mobility and economic development.
The project, divided into two stretches (Mugaiyur-Marakkanam and Marakkanam-Puducherry), is awaiting disbursement of compensation funds. A total of ₹25.167 crore is pending – ₹12.313 crore for the Mugaiyur-Marakkanam stretch and ₹12.854 crore for the Marakkanam-Puducherry stretch. Land acquisition is underway.
Having met all environmental requirements, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has submitted the necessary proposals to the Ministry. The MP stressed the highway’s strategic importance for trade, tourism, and regional connectivity, urging the Ministry to grant approval swiftly to ensure the timely completion of this crucial infrastructure project.
