Sat Apr 05 17:47:16 UTC 2025: ## Comedian Kunal Kamra Misses Third Police Summons in Defamation Case

**Mumbai, April 5, 2025** – Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has failed to appear before Mumbai police for a third time, this time in connection with a defamation case. The case stems from allegations that Mr. Kamra referred to Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde as a “traitor” during a stand-up performance in Delhi.

A complaint was filed by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, leading to Mr. Kamra being booked by Khar police. The comedian’s show, which included a joke about the split in the Shiv Sena, was subsequently uploaded to YouTube. Following the show on March 23rd, party workers vandalized the India Habitat Centre where the performance took place.

Police visited Mr. Kamra’s residence earlier this week after he missed previous summons. Meanwhile, Rahool Kanal, Mr. Shinde’s social media in-charge, publicly thanked BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani for reportedly removing Mr. Kamra’s shows from the platform’s listings. This is the third summons issued to Mr. Kamra, who is yet to respond to the police investigation.
