**Thrissur, April 5, 2025** – The Kerala government has strongly condemned the attack on two Catholic priests from Kerala in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, expressing gratitude for the support shown by the state and its people. Revenue Minister K. Rajan visited the family of one of the priests and confirmed that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan personally intervened, contacting Madhya Pradesh officials immediately after the incident. The Minister spoke directly with Fr. Davis George, one of the victims, who expressed thanks for the support and requested prayers. Minister Rajan stated that the attacks on minorities in various states are unacceptable. He also alleged that a church had previously been demolished by right-wing activists in the same region. The priests, Fr. George and Fr. George Thomas, were allegedly attacked on March 31st at the Ranjhi police station while intervening in a case involving tribal pilgrims accused of forced religious conversion. An FIR was filed four days later, though no arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, BJP leader V. Muraleedharan accused the Congress party of being behind the attack, alleging a connection to the Bajrang Sena. Chief Minister Vijayan previously condemned the incident, calling it “extremely despicable” and urging strong action against the perpetrators. The Kerala government continues to emphasize its commitment to secular values.
