**NEW DELHI** – A property dealer’s SUV was riddled with bullets and set ablaze in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri on Saturday afternoon in a brazen attack allegedly linked to a gambling debt. Eight men on motorcycles ambushed the unoccupied vehicle, belonging to a man identified as Sanjay, around 4 pm. Witnesses reported the assailants fired six shots at the SUV before smashing its windows and setting it alight after pouring petrol inside. They then fled the scene, firing shots into the air as they escaped.
Police found a note left at the scene demanding Sanjay repay a 30 lakh rupee debt (€33,000) to one of the attackers. The note also warned Sanjay to cease his alleged betting operations and threatened him with knowledge of his son’s alleged criminal connections.
Sanjay is currently being questioned by police, and a witness statement is being recorded. Authorities are investigating and pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspects. The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Mayur Vihar police station.
