Fri Apr 04 19:20:00 UTC 2025: ## Rockies Call Up Top Prospect Chase Dollander for MLB Debut

**Denver, CO** – The Colorado Rockies are giving their top pitching prospect, Chase Dollander, a shot at the big leagues. The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked as the Rockies’ No. 1 prospect and No. 24 overall by MLB Pipeline, will make his major league debut this Sunday against the Oakland Athletics.

Dollander, the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, impressed in Spring Training and followed that up with a strong performance in his Triple-A debut, allowing just one run over five innings with five strikeouts. His rapid ascent through the Rockies’ minor league system, marked by a 2.59 ERA and 169 strikeouts across 118 innings last season, has earned him this opportunity.

The call-up comes as the Rockies, despite boasting a league-best 1.35 team ERA, have struggled to a 1-5 record. While they’ve managed with a four-man rotation, the unexpected setback of Austin Gomber, currently on the 15-day IL with shoulder soreness, created an opening. Gomber’s return is now uncertain, paving the way for Dollander to potentially fill a longer-term role in the rotation. Manager Bud Black hinted that Dollander could receive extended playing time. The team will now transition to a traditional five-man rotation.
