**NEW DELHI, April 5, 2025** – The Delhi Art Gallery (DAG) is defending itself against a plea seeking its prosecution for displaying two controversial M.F. Husain paintings depicting Hindu deities Hanuman and Ganesh. An advocate filed the plea in a Delhi sessions court after a magistrate court ordered the seizure of the paintings in January but declined to file a First Information Report (FIR).
DAG argued that the claim of the paintings hurting religious sentiments does not represent the concerns of the entire community. The gallery stated that the paintings were on display for a month and viewed by thousands of visitors. The case continues.
