**Thrissur, Kerala –** Acclaimed Malayalam writer Sara Joseph was felicitated on Saturday at a two-day event celebrating the 60th anniversary of her literary career. The event, titled “Sara Josephinte Lokangal (The Worlds of Sara Joseph) – Life, Writings, and Resistance,” was organized by writers, artists, and socio-political activists at the Kerala Sahitya Akademi in Thrissur.

The celebration highlighted Joseph’s unwavering resistance against injustice and her powerful contributions to Malayalam literature. Speakers praised her work as acts of defiance that challenge the status quo and shape consciousness.

Kannada writer Banu Mushtaq, who inaugurated the event, lauded Joseph as a “milestone” in Malayalam literature, a “fiery spirit of resistance,” and a “Pole Star” illuminating the literary world. Mushtaq highlighted Joseph’s ability to overcome personal obstacles and societal constraints to achieve literary success.

Telugu writer Volga, the chief guest, noted the shared struggles and similar approaches to writing among herself, Joseph, and Banu Mushtaq. Kerala Sahitya Akademi president K. Satchidanandan praised Joseph’s epic narratives, which reimagine ancient myths through a feminist lens, embodying abundance, diversity, and skill. He emphasized the timeless quality of her work.

The event featured seminars and discussions, with several other writers and dignitaries participating, including N.S. Madhavan, P.N. Gopikrishnan, Kahdeeja Mumtaz, Soya Joseph, Prof. Kusumam Joseph, publisher Peppin Joseph, and P. Balachandran, MLA.
