Sat Apr 05 10:45:57 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Cricketer Involved in Fan Altercation During New Zealand Whitewash

**Mount Maunganui, New Zealand** – The final ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan ended with a 43-run victory for the Kiwis, completing a 3-0 series sweep, but was overshadowed by an ugly incident involving Pakistani cricketer Khushdil Shah.

Following anti-Pakistan slogans from a section of the crowd at Bay Oval, Shah confronted the fans, leading to a confrontation that required security intervention. Videos circulating on social media appear to show a fan physically restraining Shah before security personnel intervened. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) strongly condemned the abusive language directed at their players, stating that Afghan spectators used inappropriate remarks in Pashto. Stadium officials subsequently removed the disruptive spectators.

On the field, Ben Sears starred for New Zealand with another five-wicket haul, his second in consecutive matches. His impressive performance, utilizing the short ball effectively, helped bowl out Pakistan for 221 in pursuit of 265. Earlier, Imam-ul-Haq retired hurt after being struck on the helmet. Despite a strong partnership between Babar Azam (50) and Abdullah Shafique (33), Pakistan’s chase ultimately fell short.

New Zealand’s innings saw a competitive 264/8, fueled by Rhys Mariu’s maiden ODI fifty (58) and a quickfire 59 from Michael Bracewell. The match was reduced to 42 overs due to rain. The incident involving Khushdil Shah, however, has cast a shadow over the otherwise decisive New Zealand victory. Investigations into the fan altercation are expected.
