Fri Apr 04 19:28:19 UTC 2025: ## Tytler Riots Case: Witness Testifies on Alleged Confession

**New Delhi, April 5, 2025** – A Delhi court on Friday heard testimony from a key witness in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against former Congress MP Jagdish Tytler. Manjit Singh G.K., former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), stated that he had provided a pen drive containing a purported confession by Mr. Tytler to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in 2018. The recording allegedly details Mr. Tytler’s involvement in the riots, which resulted in the deaths of three people near a Pul Bangash gurdwara.

Mr. Tytler is accused of instigating the mob violence following the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The CBI filed charges against him in May 2023, including murder. The court had previously recorded the statement of Lakhvinder Kaur, widow of one of the victims. Mr. Tytler was granted anticipatory bail in 2023.

The court’s proceedings mark a significant development in a case that has seen extensive investigation and legal battles. While nearly 400 individuals have been convicted in various cases related to the 1984 riots, approximately 50, including former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar, have been convicted of murder. The next hearing in Mr. Tytler’s case is scheduled for April 21.
