Fri Apr 04 01:37:02 UTC 2025: ## Tuticorin Thermal Power Station Partially Resumes Operations After Fire

**THOOTHUKUDI, Tamil Nadu, April 4, 2025** – Unit III of the Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS) resumed operations on Thursday morning, 17 days after a major fire incident on March 15th. The fire caused extensive damage to Units I and II, rendering them completely inoperable. Unit III sustained minor power supply system damage but has now been restored, generating 210 MW of electricity.

The TTPS, which previously operated five units with a combined capacity of 1050 MW (210 MW each), is now operating at a reduced capacity. Units III, IV, and V are currently operational, generating a total of 630 MW. Repair work continues on the severely damaged Units I and II. Tangedco officials oversaw the expedited repair and restoration efforts.
