Fri Apr 04 01:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Kerala on Yellow Alert as Summer Rains Intensify

**Thiruvananthapuram, April 3, 2025** – Heavy summer rains are expected to continue across Kerala through Sunday, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue yellow alerts for several districts. Moist winds from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal are converging over the state, fueled by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea.

Five districts – Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki – are under yellow alert today, following six districts receiving the same warning yesterday. The IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall across the state until April 6th.

Punalur in Kollam and Myladumpara in Idukki experienced the heaviest rainfall on Wednesday, with 40 mm each. Kerala has already seen an 88% excess of summer rainfall this season. The IMD advises residents in the affected areas to remain vigilant.
