**Patna, Bihar:** Bihar is expected to see a rise in daytime temperatures starting Saturday, with a simultaneous drop in nighttime temperatures, according to the Meteorological Department. While Friday’s temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable, the weekend will bring warmer days and cooler nights.

The state’s maximum temperature increased by 5.3°C on Thursday. While the minimum temperature dropped in 26 cities, it rose in 9, including Patna. Patna experienced a hot afternoon on Thursday but cloud cover provided some relief in the evening. Khagaria recorded the highest temperature at 38.8°C, while Pupree in Sitamarhi was the coolest at 13.3°C. Patna’s maximum temperature rose by 1.9°C to 36.6°C and the minimum by 0.8°C to 22°C.

In anticipation of a potential heatwave, the Bihar Disaster Management Department has directed all districts to prepare action plans. The Additional Chief Secretary has issued an alert, urging the establishment of drinking water facilities at public places, schools, anganwadi centers, and intersections. Hospitals are advised to create separate wards for heatstroke patients, and the possibility of shifting school timings to the mornings is also being considered.
