Thu Apr 03 09:30:00 UTC 2025: **Heavy Rains Lash Hyderabad, Telangana; Traffic Jams Reported**
HYDERABAD, TELANGANA – April 3, 2025 – Hyderabad and several areas across Telangana experienced heavy rainfall on Wednesday afternoon, bringing much-needed relief from the recent intense heat. The downpour, accompanied by strong winds in many parts of Greater Hyderabad, caused traffic congestion in several areas, including Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Basheer Bagh, Saifabad, Abids, Koti, Kukatpally, and others. Areas like Erragadda, Yousufguda, Krishna Nagar, Khairatabad, Panjagutta, Himayatnagar, Narayanaguda, Sultan Bazaar, Musheerabad, Ramnagar, Chikkadpally, RTC Cross Roads, and several others in and around the city also experienced heavy showers. The rain also extended to areas outside the city limits, including Medchal, Kandlakoya, Dundigal, Gandi Maisamma, Nacharam, Mallapur, Bahadurpally, and Gaggilapur.
The unexpected downpour led to flooded roads and traffic jams, particularly at traffic signal intersections. While welcomed by many, the sudden rain also caused some disruption. In the districts of Sangareddy and Nizamabad, the heavy downpour led to some crop damage with reports of paddy crops being affected by the heavy rains.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for continued rainfall over the next two days, predicting that the current weather pattern will likely persist due to high surface temperatures and a trough of low pressure. While offering temporary reprieve from the heat, the IMD advises residents to stay alert for potential weather-related disruptions.
