LOUISVILLE, KY – University of Louisville men’s basketball has landed a major coup in the transfer portal, securing the commitment of Virginia sharpshooter Isaac McKneely. The 6-foot-4 guard, ranked No. 14 overall and No. 3 shooting guard in the transfer portal by 247Sports, chose the Cardinals over Tennessee.

McKneely, a prolific three-point shooter who averaged 14.4 points per game for Virginia last season, will reunite with Louisville coach Pat Kelsey, against whom he played twice this past year. He led the ACC in three-point percentage (42.1%) and consistently ranked highly in other key offensive categories. His accolades include All-ACC Honorable Mention and NABC Division I East All-District Second Team honors.

McKneely’s addition is a significant boost for the Cardinals, marking their third transfer portal commitment, joining Kennesaw State guard Adrian Wooley and Xavier guard Ryan Conwell. 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, Adam Finkelstein, praised McKneely’s shooting prowess, off-ball versatility, and improved playmaking abilities, while noting room for improvement in attacking the basket.

“He’s a movement shooter who can come off screens, but also has on/off ball versatility,” Finkelstein said in his scouting report. “He can operate off ball-screens and has improved his ability to make plays for others.”

The Cardinals will be hoping McKneely’s sharp shooting translates seamlessly into their system, adding another dimension to their offense for the upcoming season.
