Thu Apr 03 17:34:16 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Tangedco Officials Arrested for Bribery

**RANIPETA, Tamil Nadu, April 4, 2025** – Three Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (Tangedco) officials were arrested on Thursday for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe. A 57-year-old Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), S. Punitha, along with forewoman Bilkis Begam (59) and commercial inspector C. Monika (33), were apprehended by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Ranipet.

The officials allegedly demanded ₹1 lakh from a farmer, K. Saravanan (44), to convert his domestic electricity connection to a commercial one for his newly built hotel. After initially paying ₹50,000, Saravanan reported the continued demands to the DVAC.

A DVAC team, led by Deputy SP S. Ganesan, conducted a sting operation, catching the trio red-handed while accepting the remaining bribe amount of ₹25,000. All three were arrested and remanded to Central Prison in Vellore. A full investigation is underway.
