Thu Apr 03 16:20:06 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu CM Condemns BJP’s Federalism Policies at Communist Party Congress

**Madurai, April 3, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply criticized the BJP-led central government’s policies, accusing them of undermining federalism and promoting a unitary system of governance. Speaking at the CPI(M)’s 24th party congress in Madurai, Stalin declared the state’s resolution opposing the delimitation of constituencies a defense of state autonomy against what he termed the BJP’s “anti-federal activities.”

Stalin highlighted initiatives like “one country, one election, one food, one culture,” characterizing them as steps towards a centralized, potentially fascistic, regime that concentrates power in the hands of a few. He argued that only sustained campaigning and a change in central governance can counter this trend. He challenged Prime Minister Modi to explain why, despite raising questions about the Sarkaria and Punchhi commission reports in 2012, the BJP government has failed to implement their recommendations.

The Chief Minister further accused the BJP of using governors as political tools to advance their interests in states they haven’t won, and of using the delimitation process to weaken southern states. He emphasized the importance of the opposition coalition formed by four chief ministers to oppose this move, urging its continued and strengthened collaboration.

Stalin underscored the historical links between the DMK and communist ideologies, highlighting the DMK’s commitment to an inclusive “everything for everyone” approach, dismissing speculation about any rift within the alliance. The event was attended by several prominent figures including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and CPI(M) leaders.
