Thu Apr 03 14:36:07 UTC 2025: ## Kerala NDA Gears Up for Local Body and Assembly Elections

**Alappuzha, Kerala –** The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kerala held its first state-level leadership meeting on Thursday, focusing on strategies for upcoming local body elections and the 2026 Assembly polls. The meeting, chaired by newly appointed BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar, brought together leaders from various NDA constituents, including BJP leaders Kummanam Rajasekharan, V. Muraleedharan, and P.K. Krishnadas, and BDJS president Thushar Vellappally.

The NDA announced plans to launch a comprehensive action plan in May for the local body elections and to establish booth-level committees across the state. Monthly state-level meetings will also be held to maintain momentum.

The meeting sharply criticized the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s handling of the Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) protest, highlighting the LDF’s unfulfilled promise to increase their honorarium from the 2021 election manifesto. The NDA also condemned both the LDF and United Democratic Front (UDF) for their perceived failure to address the challenges faced by coastal communities, such as sea erosion and poverty. They contrasted this with the central NDA government’s coastal development projects. Further criticism was leveled against the state government’s alleged inability to curb the state’s drug mafia.

Prior to the NDA meeting, Chandrasekhar met with prominent community leaders G. Sukumaran Nair of the Nair Service Society and Vellappally Natesan of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam. A BDJS state executive meeting preceded the NDA gathering. The NDA aims to present a united front in the upcoming elections.
