**Salem, April 3, 2025** – A Village Administrative Officer (VAO) and his assistant were arrested by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in Salem on Wednesday evening for accepting a bribe. Ravichandran (47), the VAO, and his assistant Perumal (50) were apprehended while receiving ₹10,000 from a construction worker, Rajendran. Rajendran had approached the officials for a legal heir certificate and a land transfer, but the bribe was demanded for processing his request. After reporting the demand to the DVAC, Rajendran handed over the bribe money under the supervision of DVAC officials, leading to the arrests. Both individuals have been remanded to prison following the registration of a case by the DVAC.
