**Bengaluru, April 3, 2025** – The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) announced the launch of “Cauvery on Wheels,” a new initiative to provide Cauvery water to underserved areas via online bookings. The program will prioritize 110 villages currently lacking full Cauvery water access, as well as residents who have applied for and paid for Cauvery V Stage connections, according to BWSSB chairman V. Ram Prasath Manohar.
The initiative, to be officially launched by Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, will operate on a model similar to ride-sharing apps. Private tanker owners can register on the BWSSB website to lease their tankers to the board for water distribution. This addresses concerns about rising private tanker prices and inconsistent demand across different areas. Mr. Manohar stated that the BWSSB is actively working to ensure equitable water distribution throughout the city.
