**Kolkata, April 3, 2025** – West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has strongly criticized the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, accusing the BJP of using it to divide the country. The bill, passed by the Lok Sabha after a 12-hour debate with a vote of 288 to 232, has been lauded by the ruling NDA as beneficial to minorities, but condemned by the opposition as anti-Muslim.

Banerjee, in a statement to reporters, vowed to introduce an amendment to repeal the bill once her party forms the next government.
