Thu Apr 03 10:23:26 UTC 2025: ## Bengaluru Braces for Heavy Rains, Yellow Alert Issued
**Bengaluru, April 2, 2025** – Bengaluru residents are advised to prepare for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and lightning on April 3rd, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city. The downpour, accompanied by gusty winds and a 3-4 degree Celsius temperature drop, is attributed to a cyclonic circulation that has intensified into a depression off the Odisha coast.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) predicts continued cloudy weather, thunderstorms, and moderate to heavy rainfall across much of Karnataka for the next five days. An orange alert has been issued for several districts in North Interior Karnataka, warning of severe thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. The IMD warns that isolated inundation is possible.
Reports of waterlogging have already emerged from several areas of Bengaluru including Aghara flyover, Krishna temple road in Indiranagar, and other neighborhoods such as Bellandur, HAL, CV Raman Nagar, Hoodi, KR Puram, Koramangala, Marathahalli, HSR Layout, Whitefield, and Hennur. Citizens have shared videos and photos of the rain’s impact on social media.
Temperatures in Bengaluru are expected to hover around 29 degrees Celsius maximum and 20 degrees Celsius minimum over the next 48 hours. Several other districts across Karnataka have already experienced significantly lower than normal temperatures. The IMD advises residents to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions.
