**DUBUQUE, IA** – A wave of layoffs is sweeping across eastern Iowa, with ASM Global announcing the termination of 160 employees at the Five Flags Center in Dubuque. The layoffs, effective June 30th, follow the city’s decision to seek new management for the venue after two decades of working with ASM Global.

This is the third major layoff announcement in three days in the region, affecting a total of 940 workers. Other significant job losses include those at Sodexo in Decorah and Whirlpool in Amana.

While the layoffs are a significant blow to Dubuque’s workforce, city officials have indicated that current ASM Global employees will be given opportunities to apply for positions with the incoming vendor. The city council is scheduled to discuss the transition to a new vendor at their meeting next Monday. The future of the Five Flags Center under new management remains to be seen.
