**Vijayawada, April 3, 2025** – Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) leaders today met with Governor Abdul Nazeer to express their strong opposition to the recently passed Waqf Amendment Bill. The leaders voiced concerns about the bill’s potential impact on the Muslim community and the management of Waqf properties, arguing that such changes should involve consultation with state governments and community representatives.

APCC vice-president Kolanukonda Shivaji highlighted the apprehension among the public, particularly the Muslim community, regarding the amendment. The delegation also brought attention to widespread caste-based inequalities across various sectors, advocating for a comprehensive caste census to address these disparities effectively.

Further demands included a significant increase in reservations for marginalized communities in local body elections (to 42%), the immediate release of the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification to combat unemployment, and the robust implementation of the SC/ST Sub-Plan. The Congress leaders urged the Governor to intervene with relevant authorities to ensure prompt action on these pressing issues.
