**Patiala, Punjab –** A joyous 17th birthday celebration turned to tragedy for the Singh family of Patiala after their son, Navjot Singh, was murdered by a friend. Navjot, who celebrated his birthday on March 24th, was found dead in gruesome circumstances on March 25th, his body dismembered and found near a railway station.
Initially reported as an unidentified body, Navjot’s remains were identified by his distraught father, Harjinder Singh, after the family launched a desperate search. Police subsequently arrested Amanjot, a friend of Navjot’s, for the murder. Investigations revealed that the motive for the killing was Navjot’s iPhone 11, which was recovered from Amanjot’s possession.
Police also apprehended a second juvenile accomplice, who allegedly received ₹1,000 and threats to help dispose of the body. Amanjot has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The horrific details of the case, including the dismemberment of the victim, have shocked the community and highlighted the tragic consequences of violence among youth.
