**New Delhi:** Delhi experienced its hottest day of the season on Thursday, with the maximum temperature soaring to 39°C at the Safdarjung weather station, the city’s official recording point. However, the mercury climbed even higher in the Ridge area, reaching a scorching 40.4°C. Several other locations recorded temperatures 5°C above normal. The minimum temperature was 15.6°C, 3.2°C below normal.
The high temperatures kept many people indoors. Humidity levels fluctuated between 15% and 74% throughout the day. The previous highest temperature this season was 38.9°C, recorded on March 26th.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts clear skies and winds of 10-20 kmph for Friday, with a maximum temperature of 39°C and a minimum of 19°C. However, the IMD predicts that temperatures could exceed 40°C within the next five days, potentially reaching 40-42°C on April 7th and 8th.
