**Visakhapatnam, March 30:** Delhi Capitals secured a convincing seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2025 clash here today. The match was marked by a stunning debut performance from Sunrisers Hyderabad’s leg-spinner, Jishan Ansari.
Ansari, a 25-year-old right-arm leg-spinner from Lucknow, made an immediate impact, claiming a hat-trick in his first IPL appearance. He dismissed Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk in his second over, before bowling KL Rahul in his following over.
Despite limited T20 experience – his only previous T20 match was in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in February 2019 – Ansari’s performance showcased his potential. He had previously impressed in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League, capturing a tournament-high 24 wickets for the Merath Mavericks. His first-class record also boasts 17 wickets and 117 runs from five matches. Interestingly, Ansari was part of the India Under-19 team in 2016 alongside prominent players like Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, and Sarfaraz Khan.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired Ansari for ₹40 lakh in the mega auction last December. Despite his impressive debut, his team fell short against Delhi Capitals, who comfortably chased down the target.
