Wed Apr 02 04:04:34 UTC 2025: ## US Strikes in Yemen Kill Four, Prompting Increased Military Deployment

**Hodeidah, Yemen/Washington D.C. –** At least four people have been killed in US airstrikes targeting a water management building in Yemen’s Hodeidah region, according to the Houthi Health Ministry. The strikes, which occurred Tuesday night, also left two injured. The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV initially reported three deaths, but later raised the toll to four. The US has not yet confirmed its involvement in the attacks.

These latest strikes follow multiple attacks reported Monday night in Saada and Sanaa, though casualty figures from those incidents remain unconfirmed. The escalating violence comes after more than 60 people have been killed in Yemen since a US military offensive began on March 15th. The Houthis had previously threatened to retaliate against Israeli shipping in the Red Sea.

In response to the escalating situation, the Pentagon announced a significant increase in US military presence in the Middle East. A second aircraft carrier, the USS Carl Vinson, will join the USS Harry S Truman, already stationed in the Red Sea. Additional military aircraft are also being deployed. The Pentagon stated this action reflects a commitment to regional security and readiness to respond to any escalation of conflict.

Adding to the tension, the Houthis claimed responsibility for three separate attacks on US military vessels within a 24-hour period, including the firing of cruise missiles and drones at the USS Truman carrier group.

Further fueling the conflict, at least four B-2 bombers have reportedly been relocated to Diego Garcia, a US-British military base within striking distance of Yemen and Iran. While Strategic Command declined comment, the deployment of these strategic bombers, alongside the additional carrier, follows President Trump’s declaration that strikes on Houthi forces will continue until they cease posing a threat to shipping.

The escalating military activity coincides with heightened tensions between the US and Iran. President Trump has threatened bombing Iran if a nuclear deal isn’t reached on his terms, prompting strong warnings from Iranian officials, including Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian Revolutionary Guard commanders, who highlighted the vulnerability of US bases in the region and threatened retaliatory strikes. Iranian media reports further indicate that Iranian forces have prepared missiles capable of targeting US interests.
