Tue Apr 01 17:40:44 UTC 2025: **Bihar RJD Leader Challenges Amit Shah to Debate on Bihar’s Crime Statistics**

PATNA, April 2, 2025 — Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav issued a challenge to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, demanding a data-driven debate on Bihar’s crime rate. Yadav’s challenge follows Shah’s recent criticism of the RJD’s rule in Bihar and accusations of “jungle raj” during a visit to Gopalganj on Sunday.

Yadav countered Shah’s claims by citing National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, highlighting the number of murders, kidnappings, thefts, and rapes recorded during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s two decades in power. He accused Shah of lacking factual basis for his pronouncements and urged him to consult the NCRB data before making such statements.

Yadav further challenged Shah to a face-to-face debate, stating that he could provide comprehensive data to refute the BJP’s claims. He also accused the BJP of making empty election promises and criticized Shah for focusing on alleged nepotism within Lalu Prasad’s family while ignoring similar instances within the BJP’s own alliance.

Yadav highlighted several achievements during the RJD’s 17 months in power, including the implementation of IT and tourism policies, job creation, and improved compensation for teachers and other government workers. He also dismissed comments made by JD(U) leader Rajiv Ranjan Singh, suggesting Singh was acting at the behest of Shah and Modi. The upcoming Bihar elections were also referenced, with Yadav suggesting the people of Bihar were ready to give the BJP a decisive response at the ballot box.
