**Mumbai, India** – The will of the late industrialist Ratan Tata, revealing the distribution of his estimated ₹3,800 crore (approximately $460 million USD) estate, has been filed with the Bombay High Court. The majority of his wealth will benefit the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation and the Ratan Tata Endowment Trust, two organizations dedicated to philanthropic work.

Tata’s will, dated February 23, 2022, designates the bulk of his assets – including Tata Sons shares and other financial holdings – to these charitable entities. However, the will also makes provisions for family, friends, and loyal associates.

Approximately ₹800 crore (approximately $96 million USD) worth of assets, including bank deposits, investments, and personal possessions such as art and watches, will be divided among his half-sisters, Shireen and Deanna Jejeebhoy, and Mohini M. Dutta, a former Tata Group employee.

Other beneficiaries include his brother, Jimmy Naval Tata, who will inherit a portion of the family’s Juhu bungalow, and close friend Mehli Mistry, who will receive the Alibaug property and Tata’s firearm collection. The will also provides for the care of Tata’s pets, allocating ₹12 lakh (approximately $14,500 USD) for their ongoing upkeep. Furthermore, Tata’s executive assistant and a neighbor will receive assistance with educational loans.

The probate process, expected to take six months, is currently underway. The executors – lawyer Darius Kambatta, Mehli Mistry, and Tata’s sisters – have filed a petition with the court to confirm the will’s authenticity and authorize the distribution of assets. The detailed inventory of assets includes foreign holdings in Seychelles, accounts at major international banks, and shares in global corporations, along with a collection of 65 luxury watches.

Tata’s death was announced on October 9, 2024. The distribution of his estate reflects his lifelong commitment to philanthropy and his close relationships with family and friends.
