**Chennai, April 2, 2025** – Private equity and venture capital (PE-VC) firms poured a record $1.1 billion into Tamil Nadu-based companies during the first quarter of 2025, marking a dramatic 2000% increase compared to the same period last year. This surge is detailed in a new report from Venture Intelligence, a research service specializing in private company financials.
The report highlights a significant jump from the $53 million invested across nine deals in Q1 2024. January 2025 saw the highest investment activity. Notable recipients include Neuberg Diagnostics ($109 million), SuperOps.ai ($25 million), myTVS, and Geri Care. However, angel investments saw a 50% drop, falling from 12 deals in Q1 2024 to just six in Q1 2025.
Nationally, PE-VC investment also saw growth, reaching $7.9 billion across 270 deals in the first three months of 2025. This represents an 8% increase year-on-year, though slightly down 1% compared to the previous quarter. The largest national deals included Bain Capital’s $508 million investment in Manappuram Finance and KKR’s $400 million acquisition of Healthcare Global. The Tamil Nadu surge, however, stands out as a particularly significant regional success story.
