**Madurai, Tamil Nadu, April 2, 2025** – The 24th Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, has drawn a large crowd from across India, creating a festive atmosphere. A unique attraction at the Tamukkam ground venue is a “Karl Marx selfie point,” featuring a life-sized figure of the renowned philosopher, which has proven popular with attendees, including Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan and other senior party leaders.

The congress has attracted delegates and volunteers from all over South India, and even from states as far as West Bengal and Delhi. A notable contrast to the usual displays of power associated with political gatherings was the casual introduction of a senior Kerala minister, who eschewed the usual large security detail.

Young party cadre, identifiable by their khaki and red uniforms, were busy ensuring smooth arrangements, while also taking the opportunity to interact with prominent figures like Politburo member Brinda Karat. Delegates enjoyed a diverse menu featuring dishes from across India, reflecting the party’s broad reach. Traditional Tamil Nadu art forms, including Oyilattam, ‘parai’ drumming, and folk songs, added to the celebratory mood, with party members even joining in the singing.
