**Lucknow, UP –** A meat shop operating near the Balaji Temple in Rajajipuram was sealed and its owner penalized on Sunday for violating a state government ban on meat sales near religious sites during Navratri. The shop, located just 100 meters from the temple, defied a statewide order prohibiting the sale of meat within a 500-meter radius of religious places during the nine-day festival.
Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharakwal confirmed the action, stating that the shop’s operation was brought to her attention. Following an inspection, Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) zonal officer Shilpa Kumari sealed the premises and confiscated the meat stock.
The mayor emphasized zero tolerance for violations of the government order, warning of strict legal action against any further infractions. The LMC press release reiterated this warning, highlighting the swift action taken in this instance to ensure compliance.
