Wed Apr 02 00:20:00 UTC 2025: ## América Coach Remains Focused on Cruz Azul Clash Amidst Potential Mundial de Clubes Berth

**MEXICO CITY** – América manager André Jardine is refusing to be distracted by speculation surrounding a potential replacement spot in the FIFA Club World Cup. While there are reports suggesting América could face LAFC in a playoff should León’s participation be revoked due to multi-ownership issues, Jardine insists his team’s focus remains solely on their upcoming Champions Cup semi-final against Cruz Azul.

“We’re not getting into this [Club World Cup] topic, as nothing is official,” Jardine stated. “Right now, our focus is on the game against Cruz Azul. We’re not diverting our attention from what matters.”

Jardine confirmed that Henry Martín is the only absentee for the crucial two-legged tie, emphasizing that he has a full squad at his disposal. He remained tight-lipped about his starting lineup and tactical strategy, preferring to keep his plans close to his chest. He did hint at a strategic approach, stating, “We have to be intelligent in games like this…it’s four 45-minute matches, and we’re going to play the first two. Often the first half has nothing to do with the second.”

Meanwhile, América’s star forward Brian Rodríguez, who recently scored a brace against Tigres, downplayed the team’s perceived favouritism against Cruz Azul. “Feeling like favorites doesn’t align with our style or essence,” Rodríguez commented. “We have to respect every team. We’re going in with humility.”

The two-legged Champions Cup semi-final between América and Cruz Azul is set to begin imminently. The outcome will not only determine the winner’s place in the final but could also have major implications for who will represent CONCACAF in the Club World Cup.
