Tue Apr 01 22:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Indian Navy’s Women Officers Complete Fourth Leg of Global Circumnavigation

**Cape Town, South Africa –** The Indian Naval Sailing Vessel (INSV) Tarini, crewed by Lieutenant Commanders Dilna K. and Roopa A., arrived in Cape Town on Monday, completing the fourth leg of their ambitious Navika Sagar Parikrama II expedition. The vessel, which was received with a warm welcome by Indian and South African naval officials, will remain in Cape Town for two weeks for maintenance and repairs. During their stay, the crew will engage in interactions with the South African Navy and participate in community outreach events.

The Navika Sagar Parikrama II, which began in Goa on October 2, 2024, will see the INSV Tarini circumnavigate the globe, covering over 23,400 nautical miles. The expedition has presented significant challenges, including rough seas, extremely cold temperatures, and stormy weather conditions with winds exceeding 50 knots and waves reaching seven meters high. Prior to Cape Town, the vessel made stops in Fremantle (Australia), Lyttelton (New Zealand), and Port Stanley (Falkland Islands).

The INSV Tarini, an indigenously built 56-foot sailing vessel, is scheduled to depart Cape Town on April 15th for the final leg of its journey, returning to Goa in May 2025. This successful leg adds to a series of recent collaborations between the Indian and South African navies, strengthening maritime ties between the two nations.
